Sparro Chen, RCA2026 degree show at Battersea Sparro Chen in studio with modular synthesizer and paintings

Zhenghao Chen (Sparro) is an interdisciplinary artist working across chemically altered oil paintings on brass, modular synthesis, and sonic performance.

Through corrosion, resonance, and material feedback, his work explores how perception is shaped by technological systems, ritual participation, and more-than-human forces. Combining sound, vibration, and self-generated mythologies, Chen creates evolving environments where paintings become resonant bodies and performance becomes a means of recalibrating perception within an increasingly synthetic world.
